The Green House of Curiosities: Inside Raúl Reyna’s Extraordinary San Miguel de Allende Antiquarium

Inside is a wonderfully crazy, dark labyrinth of rooms, filled to the rafters with antiques, artwork, curiosities, old furniture and all manner of things collected over a lifetime.

Tucked away in Colonia Guadalupe is a greenhouse that is something of a world unto itself. Home to Raúl Reyna and his wife, it is part private residence, part antique gallery, part art collection and part wonderfully eccentric museum. It is wacky, mad and wonderful, and you should make a point of popping in.

Raúl is an artist and collector, with a particular talent for metalwork. He is as much a character as the house itself, and you get the feeling that the two are very much an extension of one another.

Raúl and his wife have called San Miguel home for 45 years, and their house seems to hold a little of that time within its walls. A lifetime of finding, keeping, making and surrounding themselves with things that matter to them.

They generously open their home to visitors, inviting you to wander through and explore. You can browse the collection, and plenty of things are for sale. If you find something you love, take it home. And if you're simply there to have a look, a little tip for your hosts is very much appreciated.

The Green House is also conveniently placed for a wander through Colonia Guadalupe, right next to ITÖ Estudio Gastronómico and on the way if you're walking from Centro/Jardín towards Fábrica La Aurora. A perfect excuse to take the scenic route, stop for a browse, and perhaps lunch along the way.
